Sustainability Story
Martin Wells and Alejandra Umaña were seeking a fresh challenge. With backgrounds in architecture and biology, they aimed to introduce a novel architectural idea to Costa Rica — Tropical Minimalism, a concept previously unexplored in the country. Their vision was to create it in an extreme tropical environment, where Ale's biology expertise could seamlessly align with Martin's architectural designs.
Their initial idea was to construct an unconventional hostel, a vibrant space featuring skateboards, bikes and adventurous trails. However, when they were led to the mountaintop in Uvita, they were immediately captivated by the breathtaking view.
The outcome is Alè and Martin's striking representation of tropical minimalism in design. The simplicity in lines, the natural gardens, and the incredible views all convey the bold and innovative essence of Alè and Martin. Today, Kura stands as a shining symbol of Costa Rica's blend of modern design and top-tier sustainable luxury.
