Sustainability Story
The origin of The Lodge at Wah traces back to Deepak Prakash's vision of creating a home for his family and guests near the tea factory. Inspired by the local craftsmanship using mud, stone, wood and slate, he began a journey to build a residence blending with its surroundings. Initially unfamiliar with alternative construction materials, Deepak's diligent research and collaboration with local artisans resulted in the development of safe and high-quality mud cottages.
The mud, extracted on-site, forms the core of the structure, while the slate roofs draw inspiration from the 'gaddi' tribe homes, skillfully preventing water leakage and ensuring symmetry. Both exterior and interior walls boast a white finish, achieved by blending mud plaster with natural materials. The commitment to maintaining a natural, eco-friendly ethos resonates throughout the daily operations, ensuring you a wholesome experience off the beaten path.
