Meet the People
Over 40 years ago, Joe and Minnie's connection with Kenya began through a transformative four-year stay in Nairobi. This led to a deep appreciation for the country's beauty and its friendly people. Inspired, they initiated their first family safari 20 years ago, and their ties to Kenya strengthened with their children volunteering in local schools. Entrusted with the opportunity to support the Dyer family's conservation vision in Laikipia, they became the final shareholders.
Now, their home in Kenya, Lengishu, stands as a symbol of Joe and Minnie's commitment to minimal environmental impact through sustainable practices. Beyond being their family home, it opens its doors to like-minded guests passionate about rhino conservation, offering a uniquely sustainable safari experience in contrast to conventional high-end lodges. With Lengishu as a luxurious base, they aim to create unforgettable wildlife adventures that contribute positively to the region's future.
Sustainability Story
Lengishu's vision from the outset was to establish an inspiring luxury safari residence rooted in sustainability. It is dedicated to minimising its environmental footprint. Since its inception, its aim has been to establish a luxury safari home that not only inspires but also upholds a deep commitment to the ecosystem, its people and wildlife.
This dedication has guided every aspect of the design, construction and management. It is fervently committed to preserving the delicate balance of the landscape, working in tandem with Borana Conservancy and neighbouring communities.
In 2013, Borana Conservancy introduced a founding group of black rhinos to expand essential habitat for the increasing population. Since then, the rhino community within the conservancy has seen significant growth. Notably, Borana now hosts not only black rhinos but also white rhinos.
