Unique Activities
Witness the Archery and Dart Demonstration
In Bhutan, archery is the national sport, honouring the significance of the bow and arrow for millennia. While historically employed for hunting and combat, it has evolved into a competitive sport and recreational pursuit. Similarly, Dart or Khuru, a traditional Bhutanese game, once served as a training method for defence against potential threats. The game involves throwing darts at a small target about 15 to 20 metres away.
You can observe demonstrations of both archery and darts at Zhiwa Ling Heritage, offering you the opportunity to learn and master these traditional Bhutanese games. Your experience at Zhiwa Ling Heritage will be uniquely enriching and remarkable. Have you already added Zhiwa Ling Heritage to your wishlist?

Dining
Relish Authentic Flavours of Bhutanese Tea at the Tea House
In Bhutan, tea drinking holds cultural significance that extends beyond the simple act of consumption. It serves as a symbol of hospitality, social connection and spiritual reflection. The Bhutanese tea experience often involves the preparation of traditional butter tea, a practice deeply rooted in local customs.
Join a Bhutanese tea ceremony at the scenic tea house. Here, you can take part in preparing traditional butter tea using a wooden churner and enjoy the brew you've crafted. While sipping your tea, don’t forget to explore their small collection of books in the tea house library.
The act of sharing tea fosters a sense of community, providing a space for conversation, storytelling and the exchange of ideas.
Sustainability Story
Zhiwa Ling Heritage is strongly committed to sustainability and environmental conservation. What makes their Sustainable Tourism Program stand out from global initiatives is their deep dedication to integrating Gross National Happiness (GNH) into every aspect of their operation. This goes beyond just implementing eco-friendly business practices. They apply the principles of GNH to how they interact with their staff and take care of their guests.
Zhiwa Ling focuses mainly on these three domains of GNH: greening their business, philanthropy vitality and human development. They actively support new projects that generate income for local communities, such as developing a business that repurposes plastics to create woven baskets for sale.
