Learn About the History of Chanoud Garh
Chanoud, now a significant Jagir, once belonged to the valiant Mertia Rajputs. Originally part of the Godwar region, it came under Thakur Anoop Singhji's possession in the early 1700s. The Mertia Rajputs, recognised for their courage, played a crucial role in the Merta war against the Marathas. Thakur Anoop Singhji and his descendants were distinguished warriors in this conflict. Apart from their military prowess, they displayed administrative skills, contributing to the construction of several temples and the Chanoud Lake — an essential water source for local farmers and wildlife.
In 1745, Thakur Vishen Singhji took charge of Chanoud, ruling for an impressive 45 years and overseeing the construction of the Chanoud Palace. Today, Chanoud Palace stands as the residence of Thakur Ajeet Singhji and his family. Maintained in its original grandeur, as envisioned by his forefathers, Thakur Ajeet Singhji extends an invitation to you to experience the opulence of Chanoud Garh.
