Sustainability Story
The name and heritage of Mary Budden, the 19th-century British woman who chose to reside in this idyllic corner of paradise, are lovingly carried forward by Mary Budden Cottage. Acquired by the remarkable Ms. Mary Budden herself in the year 1899 and subsequently transformed into a haven for local orphans, this estate lay dormant for close to a century.
It was not until nearly a hundred years later that Serena Chopra, a gifted photographer and writer hailing from Delhi, breathed new life into the property by making it her cherished mountain abode.
Encompassing a sprawling five acres of lush land, this wooded estate offers you a charming cottage where every living space is thoughtfully designed, boasting logwood fireplaces, stone patios and various open sit-outs. To further enhance your experience here, the estate includes private drawing and dining rooms, adorned with select antique furniture, all while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the majestic Himalayas.
