Quote of the Week
“If there were one more thing I could do, it would be to go on safari once again.”
- Karen Blixen
Dear Postcard Travellers,
What’s your dream trip? It’s a question a friend posed recently, and my answer came quickly: “An African safari.”
For me, it’s not a new adventure. I was lucky enough to live in an old Land Rover in Africa for a year, and game drives were part of my daily ritual. But waking up to watch elephants bathing, lock eyes with a leopard or track a pride of lion was so addictive, it remains on my bucket list today. Just like Karen Blixen, I can never get enough.
This week, I’m sharing a few dream Postcard Experiences that I’ve added to my ever-growing wish list. After all, everything starts with a dream.

Go Green at Emboo River Camp with a Carbon-Neutral Safari
Imagine gliding silently through the Maasai Mara's golden grasslands in an electric safari vehicle. The only sound is the wind rustling through the savanna. The pungent scent of sun-baked earth hangs heavy in the air, and your guide’s keen ears catch the distant alarm call of a bird—a predator is near.
You approach quietly, without disturbing the wildlife. No engine noise means you can get up close to herds of elephants, prides of lions and other wildlife without startling them.
This is Emboo River Camp in Kenya, where carbon-neutral safaris take place in electric vehicles powered entirely by the sun. You can see the awe-inspiring wildlife up close, with no noise, no fumes — just pure, unfiltered adventure.
From June through October, Emboo River Camp also make an ideal base to witness the Great Migration, one of nature’s most awe-inspiring spectacles.
Wander in the Wilderness on a Walking Safari with Basecamp Dorobo Mobile Camp
Wander through the wild, following the ancient paths of the Dorobo hunter-gatherers at Basecamp Dorobo Mobile Camp. As the sun rises, you begin your day with an immersive walking safari through Kenya’s Mara Naboisho Conservancy, guided by locals who share their deep understanding of the land.
Walking allows you to notice the smaller, fascinating details that make this landscape sing—the delicate tracks of animals, the vibrant birds and the rustle of creatures hidden in the grass. Every step brings you closer to nature, deepening your connection to the wilderness.
At midday, you savor a picnic under the shade of an acacia, with endless views stretching before you. As night falls, you gather around a crackling campfire, under a sky ablaze with stars.
With this mobile Mara under Canvas safari, you’re not just observing nature—you’re fully immersed in its rhythm and beauty, experiencing the wild as the Dorobo once did.
