Celebrate the Season of Colour in India
Spring Getaways in Rajasthan
Quote of the Day
“Holi is the festival of colours, a reminder that life is meant to be lived in full brightness.”
— Rabindranath Tagore
Dear Postcard Travellers,
Spring arrives in India in a burst of colour.
Holi marks the end of winter and the beginning of a bright new season—celebrating renewal, abundance, love and joy. Clouds of saffron, turquoise and pink powder fill the streets as people come together to welcome spring.
It’s also one of the most magical moments to travel in Rajasthan.
Spring brings golden light, delicate flowers and cool desert mornings. It’s a season that invites you to slow down, step outside and reconnect with nature.
This week, while exploring Postcard Search, I found three beautiful ways to experience spring in Rajasthan. Each offers a completely different perspective on the season: wildlife, rural heritage and desert grandeur.
Three journeys. One unforgettable season of colour.
Warmly,
Kaz Hastings

Sawai Shivir Ranthambore: Spring Safaris in Tiger Country
At Sawai Shivir, you stay in colourful canvas tents that recall the romance of classic safaris, with every comfort waiting when you return from the wild.
Spring in Ranthambore unfolds quietly around you: golden grasses sway, langurs call from ancient banyan trees, and somewhere in the forest, a tiger slips silently through the shadows.
Exclusive jungle game drives take you deep into Ranthambore National Park in search of these legendary big cats, as well as deer, monkeys and birdlife.

Back at camp, you can indulge in spa treatments, pottery and culinary classes or relax with a book from the library. Evenings settle into fireside conversations, Rajasthani flavours and star-filled desert skies.
Suryagarh: Spring in Golden Jaisalmer
At Suryagarh, you can experience a garden oasis in the Thar Desert.
Rising like a golden fort from the sands outside Jaisalmer, the hotel opens the door to Rajasthan’s desert landscapes and rich cultural traditions. Spring brings soft desert winds and luminous sunsets that paint the landscape in shades of amber and rose.
You might explore the desert dunes, stroll the narrow lanes of Jaisalmer’s golden city or enjoy a picnic at a nearby oasis.
Music, storytelling and regional cuisine bring the desert’s heritage vividly to life.
This is Rajasthan in all its cinematic grandeur.
Rawla Bisalpur: Where Rajasthan Slows Down
In the quiet village of Jawai–Bisalpur, life moves at an easy pace. Rawla Bisalpur is an intimate four-room retreat created from the royal family’s restored 1930s Indo-European guesthouse beside their atmospheric 18th-century ancestral palace. Here, you settle into the gentle rhythm of rural Rajasthan.
Mornings might bring bicycle rides or picnics on nearby farms. In the late afternoon, you could head out on safari across granite hills in search of Jawai’s elusive leopards and enjoy sundowners by Jawai Lake. The landscape is striking—smooth boulders, sculptural cacti and wildflowers glowing yellow in the sun.
Back at the house, afternoons drift by beside the pool or in the library, or you can join a cooking class to learn traditional Rajasthani recipes. Before long, you settle into the easy rhythm of the house, as if you’ve been coming here for years.
